diner diy

We had a little nook in our Musgrave home that was just craving some bar stools. Happily, such were found at Bon Vie, for only 60 bucks. What a steal. Sadly, Bon Vie has now closed down, but we recall many happy days of rummaging through rooms filled with second hand goods reborn in all their shappy chic repainted glory.

Just before this aforementioned joyless event, there was a day when Annie and I fairly gutted the place of its treasures, and these two babies came to have a home.

These were then sanded down to get all the rust off (using a sand paper I have newly discovered that you dip in water), primed, and spray painted 'post-box red'.

The whole process took longer than I expected, requiring much more arm power with all that sanding, but I am nonetheless very pleased with the cheery red little guys that remind me of some small town American diner in the seventies. Long may they cushion our bums.
